The QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This comprehensive 1-day course has been designed to benefit Learners through developing their understanding of the principles of manual handling and providing them with the opportunity to practise and apply the principles of safer manual handling of objects so they can operate in a safer working environment.
This qualification is ideal for those who perform manual handling duties in the workplace, including industrial and office based environments. It is suitable:
- As an introduction to those starting work which involves carrying out manual handling activities • For those returning to work where manual handling activities are required.
- As safety refresher training.
The Principles of Manual Handling course that we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 7 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 4 weeks.
Common manual handling injuries / Manual handling laws / Responsibilities of employers and employees / Risk assessments / Safe movement principles associated with manual handling, including the body's: Musculoskeletal system, Centre of gravity, Lever system / Manual handling equipment: Types of manual handling aids and equipment, Maintenance and requirements for testing / Manual handling practical sessions: Solo lifting, carrying and lowering an object, Team manual handling, Using equipment.
Assessment & Certification
Course assessments includes:
- 3 x Practical assessments.
- 1 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers).
Upon successful completion of this course, individuals will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is valid for 3 years from date of certification. This qualification may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher level, plus aid career progression in a relevant profession.
Some possible routes of progression are:
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or equivalent.
We are able to deliver our Principles of Manual Handling training course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
