Course Information

The QA Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This intensive 1/2-day course has been designed to develop Learner's understanding of their role and responsibilities, in line with current guidelines, when safeguarding and protecting children, young people and adults at risk.

This qualification is for people who are working with children, young people and adults at risk. This includes those in voluntary or unpaid positions. In particular it has been designed for people who have a responsibility for safeguarding and protecting in environments such as the NHS, education and healthcare providers and social services.

Course Duration

The safeguarding course that we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 5 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 4 weeks.

Syllabus

Understanding safeguarding and protection responsibilities: Current guidelines and legislation, Safe ways of working / Different types of abuse, including: Signs, symptoms and indicators, Why abuse is not always recognised, Factors to be considered when abuse is suspected / Procedures for reporting, recording and responding to: Suspected abuse, Disclosure of abuse, Alleged abuse / The Government's person centred approach to safeguarding and protection, including: Duty of care, Best practice / Support mechanisms available for staff and others following abuse

Assessment & Certification

Course assessments include:

  • 1 x theory assessment.

Upon successful completion of this course individuals will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is valid for 3 years from date of certification. This qualification may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher level, plus aid career progression in a relevant profession.

Entry Requirements

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Location

We are able to deliver our safeguarding course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
