- Unit 1: Principles of Infection Prevention and Control.
The QA Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This intensive 4-hour course has been designed to develop Learner's understanding of their role and responsibilities in helping to prevent the spread of infection.
This qualification is for people working in the health and social care sector. It's particularly useful for health care assistants, health care workers or a social care worker.
The Infection Prevention and Control course that we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 5 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 4 weeks.
Importance of infection prevention and control / Roles and responsibilities Minimising the risk of infection: The importance of risk assessments, Potential risks of infection within the workplace / Personal protective equipment (PPE) Personal hygiene / Hand washing procedures.
Assessment & Certification
Course assessment includes:
- 1 x Practical assessments.
Upon successful completion of this course individuals will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is valid for 3 years from date of certification. This qualification may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher levels, plus aid career progression in a relevant profession.
A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy.
We are able to deliver our Infection Prevention and Control First Aid course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
