Course Information

The QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This comprehensive 2-day course has been designed to benefit Learners' by developing their understanding of: the importance of health and safety in the workplace; the principles involved in risk assessment and the relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy. Learners will then apply their knowledge of the risk assessment process by completing risk assessments of the workplace.

This qualification is for anyone with the responsibility of conducting risk assessments in low risk environments, e.g. supervisors, site managers. It would also be suitable for people who significantly contribute to the risk assessment process, e.g. team leaders, technicians.

Course Duration

The Risk Assessment course that we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 17 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 10 weeks.

Assessment & Certification

Course assessment includes:

  • 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper).
  • 1 x Risk Assessment.

Upon successful completion of this course individuals will receive a QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is refreshed every 3 years from date of certification.

Possible progression routes include:

  • Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF).

Entry Requirements

A maximum of 8 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training.

It is recommended that Learners already hold Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) or Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment (RQF).

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that students have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.


We are able to deliver our Risk Assessment course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
