Course Information

The QA Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This comprehensive 3-day course has been designed to educate students in supervising food safety in a catering environment. It includes the importance of safety management procedures and the requirements for monitoring, recording and evaluating these procedures, food safety and the law, good food hygiene practice and the role of the supervisor in the catering environment.

This qualification is for people who work, or are preparing to work, in a supervisory role in a catering environment. It would also be suitable for people who own or manage small catering businesses.

Course Duration

The Supervising Food Safety in Catering course that we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 26 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 10 weeks.

Assessment & Certification

Course assessment includes:

  • 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper).

Upon successful completion of this course individuals will receive a QA Level 3 Award Supervising Food Safety in Catering (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is refreshed every 3 years from date of certification. This qualification may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher level, plus aid career progression in a relevant profession.

Some possible routes of progression are:

  • Level 3 Award in HACCP in Catering (RQF).
  • Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering (RQF).

Entry Requirements

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training.

It is recommended that Learners already hold the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) or (RQF).

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
