Course Information

The QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This intensive 3-hour course has been designed to prepare the Learner to develop the skills and knowledge needed to guide them to react safely, to pass effective messages to the emergency services, to prioritise the injured and to give life-saving first aid in the event of a shooting, stabbing, bombing or other deliberate incident. This combination of effective organisation and immediate treatment will help to save lives.

This qualification is for all members of the public who wish to learn lifesaving skills and techniques in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident.

Course Duration

The citizenAID course we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 3 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 3 weeks.


Determining the appropriate actions to take in the following events, using the citizenAID App or pocket guide: Knife attacker or active shooter, Exploded bomb, Unattended and suspicious item, Acid and vehicle attacks / Reporting the incident to the emergency services / Prioritising multiple casualties / Providing sufficient information when the emergency services arrive / Dealing with an unresponsive casualty who is breathing: Opening the airway, Checking breathing, Recovery Position / Controlling severe external bleeding: Applying manufactured and improvised tourniquets, Using improvised and manufactured dressings to pack wounds.

Assessment & Certification

Course assessments includes:

  • 7 x Practical assessments.

Upon successful completion of this course, individuals will receive a QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is valid for 3 years from date of certification.

Entry Requirements

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements.


We are able to deliver our citizenAID training course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
