Course Information

The QA Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF) is an accredited, regulated and quality assured qualification that is recognised throughout the UK. This comprehensive 3-hour course has been designed to benefit Learners by providing them with appropriate first aid training, in a forestry context, as set out in the First Aid at Work - Forestry Commission Policy enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with specific special hazards in an emergency situation.

This qualification is for people who hold or intend to complete an Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification who may deal with special hazards in an emergency situation within a forestry/agricultural context.
Note: Those working in core operations on Forestry Commission land will require an appropriate and valid Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification in combination with this QA Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF) qualification.

Course Duration

The Forestry First Aid course we deliver has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) requirement of 3 hours. The maximum period to achieve this qualification (including any referrals) is 3 weeks.


Extreme cold / Extreme heat / Treatment of Adder snake bites Catastrophic bleeding including: Direct pressure, Tourniquets, Haemostatic agents, Crush injuries, Lyme disease.

Assessment & Certification

Course assessments includes:

  • 1 x Practical assessment.
  • 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper).

Upon successful completion of this course, individuals will receive a QA Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF) printed certificate as well as a credit-card style license. This qualification is valid for 3 years from date of certification.

Entry Requirements

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. Please note that students must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that students have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. Due to the practical nature of this course, students should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.


We are able to deliver our First Aid at Work training course on your premises (subject to a pre-course assessment) to reduce the costs associated with taking time out and travelling. Alternatively, you can book onto our next available course at our Snetterton Training Facility.
