First Aid Skills from the Most Unusual Places.

We hear amazing stories every day, people all over the country confidently exercising life-saving skills and it makes us so proud that first aid education is making such a big difference in people's lives. However, every so often, a story catches our eye for the most unusual reasons.

It has recently been reported by the Metro how a grandmother saved a man's life on the street, her action alone is amazing. However, she attributes her 'skills' to what she learned whilst watching an episode of Coronation Street. It is understood that Gillian Edmondson spotted a man in the street in Carnforth near Lancaster and it was clear he had been stabbed in the chest. Gillian ran to the gentlemen's side to assist him.

Gillian explains how she saw an episode of Coronation Street whereby one of the characters, Ryan Connor, was seriously hurt after being hit by a car. Following action shown in the soap, Gillian removed her jumper and used this to slow the bleeding in the 25 minutes it took for emergency services to arrive. It is understood that medics expressed they could have been looking at a fatality if Gillian hadn't stemmed the bleeding.

We want to take this opportunity to comment Gillian Edmondson for her fast thinking. First aid skills are extremely important, no matter where you learn these. We do however, recommend that everyone undertake a professional first aid course so that they have a vast array of skills suitable for various emergency situations.
